Ways to Play
Private Lessons
Grab your friends and family and let us bring Mahjong to you.
At Mahjong Birdie, our private lessons are designed to make learning fun, easy, and something your group will actually want to keep playing. We’ll walk you through the ins and outs of the game while keeping the energy light, engaging, and just the right amount of competitive

Ready to spread your wings? This class is your very first flutter into the world of American mahjong. We cover the basics—how the tiles work, what “crack, bam, dot” actually means, and how to confidently play your first hand.
No experience required—just bring your curiosity and a sense of fun. By the end, guests are playing and ready to join the flock at the mahj table.

You’ve got the pecking order down—now it’s time to stretch those wings. This class builds on foundational knowledge with strategy, pace, and more advanced gameplay.
We cover the second Charleston option, the blind pass, introduce gameplay variations (like “playing with Linda”), and continue building confidence through full games.

Description text goes hereThis is where players really settle in and play. Guests jump into multiple games with an instructor nearby for support, strategy tips, and rule clarification as needed.
It’s a relaxed, social, and confidence-building session designed to keep players engaged and improving.

For the best experience, we often recommend pairing Mahj 101 and Mahj 201.
Learning mahjong in one session is like trying to fly with one wing—you’ll get started, but the second session is where everything really clicks.
Why it works:
-Builds retention through continued practice
-Boosts confidence and decision-making
-Keeps momentum going while concepts are fresh
One of our favorite things at Mahjong Birdie? Pop-up Mahjong nights.
We partner with local spots around North Georgia to host Mahjong 101 lessons, open play, and events that bring people together around the table. Whether you’re brand new or just looking to play more, there’s always a seat waiting.
These ticketed events are perfect if you don’t have a full group—or if you’re hoping to meet one. Some of our favorite tables started with strangers who left as friends (and now have a standing game night).
Come solo, bring a friend, or join a table—either way, you’ll be glad you did.
Custom Events & Parties
Looking for something a little different for your next event? Mahjong is it.
At Mahjong Birdie, we work with you to bring your event to life—whether that’s a beginner lesson, open play, or a full-on tournament. Hosting a members’ event? Planning a birthday surprise? Want to add prizes, goody bags, or special touches? We’re in.
Our goal is to create a table that feels fun, memorable, and just the right amount of competitive—so your guests leave already planning the next game.
